Webarkitekt designs and builds websites, web apps and online shops for small businesses — and the person who sketches the layout is the one who writes the code. That is the whole idea of the studio: no hand-off between a designer and a developer who never met, no page builder with a theme swapped in, no agency layer between you and the work. You get a website built to a fixed price or a web app scoped as a first working version, from someone who has shipped a dozen of both since 2022.
How we work is deliberately boring. A short call, then real layouts with your real copy in your browser within the first week, a live preview URL while we build, and a launch in four to eight weeks on the budget we agreed. Every site is hand-built — modern HTML and CSS, a lean Python/Django backend where one is needed — which is why our live sites average a Lighthouse score of 98 and load in about a second on a phone. Most of our clients are small businesses and Mittelstand firms: a practice, a craft business, a founder, a law firm, a shop. Many are within an hour of Freiburg im Breisgau — we meet in person when it helps, and the Freiburg page and the Basel and Südbaden page say what that looks like. Just as many are elsewhere in Germany or Switzerland and work with us entirely remotely, in German or English. Either way the code, the domain and the hosting are yours at the end, with no lock-in.

- Most company websites go live in 4–8 weeks. Web apps are scoped individually, usually 8–16 weeks for a first version. The usual delay is missing texts and photos, not the build.

Do you only work in Freiburg?
- No. Freiburg, Südbaden and Basel are home turf and we meet those clients in person when it helps, but most of the work happens remotely with a shared preview URL — for clients anywhere in Germany or Switzerland.

Web design or web development — which do I need?
- Design is how the site looks and reads; development is the code that makes it fast, secure and maintainable. You need both, and at Webarkitekt they are done by the same person, so nothing gets lost between a mockup and the finished site.

Do you build with WordPress or a page builder?
- Usually not. We hand-build with HTML, CSS and Django where a backend is needed — faster, safer and free of plugin licences. If a page builder is genuinely the better fit for you, we say so.

Who owns the website afterwards, and who maintains it?
- You do — code, domain and hosting are in your name. You can update texts yourself or book us for ongoing care at a fixed monthly price; there is no contract lock-in either way.
